Tech Topics Provide Learning At Broadband Conference

The 2017 IAMU Broadband Conference features several workshop sessions designed to enhance operational knowledge for broadband technicians.  The technical track includes the following sessions (so far):

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

• "Home Networking Challenges" - Bret McElwee will talk about how technicians can help customers optimize their WiFi networks to improve their experience.
• "LTE Interference" - Interference to and from LTE/4G telephone systems is a new challenge for cable technicians. The symptoms of interference in cable networks range from slow upload/download times to tiling and freezing images to total loss of connectivity. The symptoms of interference in LTE networks are virtually the same. This seminar is designed to help you better understand how this interference occurs, and provide some suggestions on how to find and fix it.  Session instructor: Jim Gorecki, PCT International
• "OTDR Theory and Practice" - Ron Grigsby with RDG Telecom will provide an overview of OTDR use for troubleshooting problems in fiber optic networks.

• "Fiber 101 and Fiber 201" - In this two-session training, Steve Scudder with Fitel will start with fiber basics that all technicians need to know, then build on that essential knowledge to cover cleaning and testing, splicing, and best practices.
