Mediacom says that as the New Year dawns, it's entire footprint will be upgraded to DOCSIS 3.1 (using a mix of CASA and Cisco gear), and will begin offering gigabit services in many areas.

But in news that has an even bigger impact on municipals that compete directly with Mediacom, they say they are planning to eliminate their slower tiers of internet service, with the lowest speed to be changed to 60 Mbps downloads.
