One of Iowa's "first generation" of municipal broadband providers is CBAN's newest Provider Member. Laurens Municipal Power and Communications ("LMPC") in Laurens, Iowa established a municipal communications utility in 1998. It's first network used a combination of fiber optics and coaxial cables (HFC), but LMPC rebuild their network to fiber-to-the-premise in 2022 to meet the continued growth of internet demand.
LMPC is governed by a three-member Board of Trustees, which also oversees the communities municipal water and electric utilities.
Welcome of CBAN, LMPC!
