Broadband Labels Coming in 2024

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is giving large internet service providers (more than 100,000 subscribers) until April 10, 2024 to display "Broadband Consumer Labels" at the point of sale and online. Smaller ISP's have an additional 6 months to create and display the labels.

For anyone that checks out nutrition labels on food to identify ingredients, the "Broadband Facts" label will look quite familiar.

Rules were mandated by Congress, who put the FCC in charge of developing the rules and monitoring compliance. Any ISP that does not deliver on that label could be pursued by the Federal Trade Commission under its authority to prevent "false and deceptive" advertising.
