Agenda Finalized for Fall Broadband Meeting

Billing systems, TV alternatives, and financing are among the topics to be discussed at the IAMU Fall Broadband Meeting on October 10th.

Billing Platform Selection: New telecom utilities need to choose a billing platform that can handle telecom services. Established telecom utilities may be looking for a new platform that can also handle utility services. The selection task is daunting and making the right choice for your utility is vital.  In this session we’ll take a look at some of the factors to consider when making that selection.

Break with Vendor Networking

Growing Pains: In this session we’ll hear from some of Iowa’s newest municipal fiber utilities, who will discuss some of the challenges they’ve faced during their growth phase.  Panelists:  Jeff Magsamen, Waverly Utilities; Kurt Ripperger,  Indianola Municipal Utilities; Tom Richtsmeier, Vinton Municipal           Communications Utility.

Break with Vendor Networking

Dynamic TV -Algona's Video Alternative:  Algona Municipal Utilities recently began easing out of the cable TV      business. Rather than providing customers with their own TV product, they will be moving toward an IPTV product provided by NICP, a consortium of northwest Iowa telecom companies. In this session Bob Jennings and Lowell Roethler of AMU will discuss the process of converting customers over to a new platform.

Trends in Municipal Telecom Finance: Michael Maloney of DA Davidson will discuss some of the trends that he has seen during the process of issuing financing for several recent municipal telecom project and discuss where the market is going.
Registration is available on the IAMU website at www.iamu.org under the "Events" page.  Registration is just $35.00 for IAMU members and $50.00 for non-IAMU members and all are welcome!
